Recap: Dig In volunteer day at the Neighborhood Farm Initiative

Thanks to the Neighborhood Farm Initiative and all of the volunteers who turned out to make the first Slow Food DC Dig In event a success! Volunteers included Slow Food members and some new faces all interested in urban agriculture and giving back to the community. The Neighborhood Farm Initiative provides hands-on training in organic vegetable gardening to both volunteers and students. They also run a Teen Green Summer Youth program, to educate teens in green job skills in urban agriculture and culinary professions. We are very excited to support these efforts. Plus, we shared a lovely potluck picnic at the end of our gardening; the whole day was a great opportunity to get to know Slow Foodies.Check out more photos on Flickr
